58th Annual Golden Globe Awards
January 21, 2001

Sarah Michelle Gellar and Freddie Prinze, Jr.
Sarah Michelle Gellar ~ finally nominated for her work on Buffy the Vampire Slayer ~ glowed as she swept down the Red Carpet at the 2001 Golden Globe Awards.

Wearing Jimmy Choo shoes and a romantic red and white Valentino halter dress (she told US magazine she selected it 20 minutes before arriving at the event) with matching ruby and diamond Fred Leighton earrings and other jewels from Bulgari and Cathy Waterman, Sarah was the picture of elegance.  Her fiance', Freddie Prinze, Jr., was equally handsome in classic evening wear (and new blonde locks).

Sarah and Freddie tried to stop for pictures but were hurried down the red carpet by one of those ever-present publicists.  However, as they walked by, the audience could see true happiness emanate from this talented couple.

Inside the awards show, Sarah, well deserving of her success, talked about many subjects, including her anticipation while waiting for delivery of a new car, one most of us can only dream of, a Lotus.  Work hard, kids, someday you can get one, too!

Sarah and Freddie mingled with other celebs after the show and briefly stopped by the WB/In Style Party.  She had told one of the many reporters earlier in the evening she'd be home in bed by 11:30 p.m., and apparently kept her promise.

While Sarah has been nominated for and received several awards, including the Daytime Emmys and MTV Movie Awards, her 2001 Golden Globe nomination for Best Performance by an Actress in a TV-Series (Drama) is her highest honor to date and hopefully other organizations will take note.  Her television series, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, which just celebrated its 100th episode, continually produces quality entertainment and absolutely deserves several Emmy nominations. *

4/17/01:  It's official, Sarah and Freddie are engaged

7/10/01:  Sarah and Freddie top EW's 2001 It List

 * The Emmy Noms were announced 7/12/01 and Buffy was overlooked (again).

Joan & Melissa Rivers announced the 2001 Golden Hanger Awards on November 7th.  The E! Style Council announced Sarah Michelle Gellar was honored with the
"Female Hot Young Hollywood" Award for 2001.
